Eat Slowly

The more slowly you eat the less food you'll consume. It takes time for your brain to recognize you're satisfied. Use a teaspoon instead of a soup spoon and it takes longer to eat. A salad fork holds less food than a dinner fork so use a salad fork most of the time.

Adjust Your Plate Size

The tendency is to fill our plates full, so trick yourself and use a smaller plate. Studies have shown that people judge how much food they've eaten by the size of the plate and how full it is. They feel satisfied on less food piled on a smaller plate, than the same amount of food on a big plate. Changing your plate size can lead to easy weight loss. Use a salad plate for your dinner plate and you'll automatically eat less. Use a small bowl instead of a soup bowl and you'll cut calories. The same trick works with drinks. A squat short glass may hold more liquid than a tall skinny one but most people will think they've drunk more when drinking out of the taller glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice before pouring in your drink and save even more calories. Free report Tips to Lose weight fast

Sugar free and low fat doesn't necessarily mean low calorie

Many of the sugar free snacks contain as many, if not more, calories than their counterparts. Low fat might mean sugar and starches have been added to make up for the lost flavor and creaminess from the fat. Read the labels to make sure you're getting what you think you're getting. Sometimes it's better to use a lesser amount of the original food than the usual amount of the low fat or sugar free substitute.

Always put food on a plate

Put food on a plan, a real plate, not a paper plate, and eat at the table. You'll be amazed at how much food you consume away from meal times or on the run. It's easy to down a bag of potato chips eating in front of the TV. Or you're hungry so you grab a leftover chicken leg and eat it over the sink. You're late for work so you reach for a donut to have with your latte as you drive. Don't eat unless you're sitting down at the table with a plate in front of you. You'll feel silly putting chips and dip on a lunch plate, so silly you probably won't do it. Putting all the food on plates and eating at the table makes you aware of how much you're eating and when. Seeing all the dirty plates in the sink can motivate you not to eat.

What you drink counts in your calories for the day

It's easy to forget that fruit juice, sodas, sweetened ice tea, and café mocha, all add up. Water is always your best bet as a refreshing drink. Add a slice of lemon or lime for flavor. Or a crushed strawberry, a few raspberries or a peach slice. You can keep a pitcher of ice water on your desk, or kitchen counter and it will remind you to drink more. Keep single serving bottles in the freezer to grab on your way out. Put the bottled water in front of the juice, milk, and sodas and you'll be tempted to drink the water instead of the other liquids. Just cutting out two sodas a day can significantly drop your calorie count.

Lose belly fat

Increase your intake of fat, but not just any fat. Research has shown that a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids leads to weight loss, better health, and more energy. The American diet is stuffed full of trans fat and saturated fats but light when it comes to omega-3 fatty acids. You can increase your consumption of these fats by adding fish to your diet such as salmon, herring, and tuna. Omega-3 is also found in olive oil, nuts and seeds. A mere 6 grams of Omega-3 can lead to weight loss, including belly fat, without any other change in diet. Two tablespoons of ground flaxseed provides 3.5 grams just by itself. Sprinkle flaxseed on cereal, sandwiches and salads. It has a nutty taste. One tablespoon of flaxseed oil provides all you need and more, 7.3 grams. Use flaxseed oil as a substitute for olive oil in salad dressing, or use a half flaxseed oil and half olive oil mixture. Supplements work as well. Take the supplements before each meal.

How does hypnosis help you lose weight?

Lose weight without feeling hungry? Lose the desire to over eat? Stop eating when you're full? Sounds like an impossibility. However there are those who swear it can be done through self hypnosis. But the question still remains about weight loss self hypnosis: does it work?

Your brain determines how much you eat, how often, and what you eat. If you haven't eaten anything in awhile, your blood sugar drops signaling your brain to tell you you're hungry it's time to eat. If that's the only time you felt like eating you wouldn't have a weight problem.

Unfortunately sometimes the brain tells you to comfort yourself with food, to eat to reduce stress, or relieve boredom. Hypnosis works by telling your brain that's not necessary. Your state of consciousness is altered through hypnosis. Your brain is more responsive to suggestions in that altered state. Contrary to what many people think you can not be told to do something under hypnosis you have strong beliefs against, feel is immoral, or unethical.

A suggestion that you don't really want to eat fattening foods, certain foods, or to reduce the amount of food you eat or to stop eating between meals can be effective in changing your behavior. If that behavior can be maintained for a few weeks it may become a permanent change.

However, there are still doubts about the efficacy of hypnosis, and the extent to which it works. Although hypnosis is not a miraculous cure, it can be helpful combined with a weight loss program involving a low fat diet and exercise. If you want to eat lots of fresh veggies and fruits and stay away from fatty foods, your diet will be more successful.

Hypnosis is considered to be fairly safe and inexpensive. It is an approach that can be helpful in a well integrated weight loss program. Your first step is to find a qualified hypnotherapist who can teach you how to self hypnotize yourself. It may take a few sessions until you get the knack of it. It's important that you like and trust the hypnotherapist, otherwise you may be resistant to any suggestions he or she makes. The therapist will give you a series of steps that you use to put yourself in state more receptive to suggestions. He or she will give you the suggestions so they strengthen the ones made during the original sessions.

The suggestions may be that you no longer have the desire to eat past the feeling of fullness. Or that you haven't the need to snack between meals or after dinner. If a certain food is causing problems, the suggestion can be made that you no longer want that food but would prefer a low calorie, healthier substitute.

Most people say that they were aware of their surroundings, their emotions and exactly what was happening during the hypnosis sessions. They came out of the sessions relaxed and refreshed.

Can self-hypnosis help you lose weight? There's no definitive proof that hypnosis alone will cause weight loss, but it could help you stick to a weight loss and exercise program.
